How to get around Instagram’s new limits on political content

by admin

Instagram has begun automatically limiting the amount of political content appearing in users’ feeds as part of a new initiative. This means the platform is no longer “proactively” recommending political posts from accounts that users haven’t chosen to follow. As a result, the “political content” control is automatically set to “limit” on user accounts, and this change also applies to users with Threads accounts linked to their Instagram profiles.

The move has sparked backlash from some users who feel that it restricts political discussion, especially during a year with major elections in the U.S. and other countries. If you’d prefer not to have these limitations, here’s a simple way to turn them off:

  1. Open the Instagram app on your phone and tap the three-line menu in the top right corner.
  2. Go to “Settings and Privacy,” then select “Content Preferences,” and open the “Political Content” menu.
  3. Find the option labeled “Don’t Limit” and turn it on.

Once you do this, you’ll be able to see posts related to government, elections, and other political topics from accounts you don’t follow in your feed again.
